Engine-type seawater desalination devices are devices used to produce fresh water directly from seawater in environments where electricity is unavailable or in emergencies. They are powered mainly by two-stroke engines fueled by gasoline or engine oil, and pumps send seawater to reverse osmosis membranes (RO membranes) or filters to produce potable freshwater.
