We are a leading Japanese nanotechnology organization dedicated to contributing to our members' businesses by leveraging technical information and our member network. Our new slogan is: "Serving as a hub for nanotechnology innovation, we connect the diverse expertise of stakeholders across industries,
create and implement new value in society, and bring the voice of industry to society." Our booth exhibition focuses on three key pillars: (1) an introduction to NBCI activities, (2) the visualization of nanotechnology, and (3) the StartUp Award.
We are hereby introducing details about NBCI's activities.
The "Visualization of Nanotech" initiative aims to highlight nanotech as a fundamental technology that tends to be hidden behind finished products, and to widely publicize its value. Every year, based on information on current and future technologies submitted by member companies, examples of nanotech applications by field are compiled and displayed on panels at the exhibition venue. A limited number of 500 booklet versions will be distributed at the venue.
Using nanocarbon as an example, we have mapped companies and products active in upstream, midstream, and downstream industries, as well as the related companies that support them. This is a very useful resource that allows you to see at a glance the products and players in the industry. The 2026 edition is scheduled to be distributed at the NBCI booth during the exhibition.
The Technology Committee has eight subcommittees and is an active group that exchanges opinions and shares information among member companies on topics such as nanotechnology-related technologies and cutting-edge technologies that are attracting attention.
The Innovation Promotion Committee compiles opinions and requests from NBCI member companies and makes policy recommendations on government policies and social issues through dialogue with relevant government ministries and agencies. It has also submitted a recommendation for the "7th Science, Technology and Innovation Basic Plan" which has been started in fiscal year 2026.
The Social Acceptance and Standardization Committee exchanges opinions and information regarding the standardization of nanocarbon materials,
One of the key activities of the Social Acceptance and Standardization Committee is addressing European regulations regarding CNTs. We collaborate with relevant companies and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to engage in lobbying activities with European authorities, presenting a unified "All-Japan" position.
The Business Committee's Open Innovation Working Group provides a forum for interaction between diverse member companies. As part of its business-building networking collaboration activities, the group is planning the "Start Up Award," an event to promote collaboration with venture companies. It also hosts seminars to explore business opportunities in the materials industry, measurement informatics seminars, and introduces university-developed seeds.
The Nanocarbon Commercialization Working Group under the Business Committee is made up of both NBCI members and non-member companies. Non-member companies participate in its activities with the expectation that they will join NBCI.
The group focuses in particular on sharing information about its activities and creating business opportunities, while also helping participants develop an innovation-oriented mindset. Its activities include lectures on a range of topics, a Seeds and Needs Seminar at the Nanotechnology Exhibition, talks on innovation at group meetings, and the development of a nanocarbon industry map.
This is the member list of current NBCI members. The diversity of our membership is one of NBCI's key strengths. We invite you to join NBCI and leverage the opportunity to network with fellow members, helping to advance the commercialization of your nanotechnology-related business.
