Professor Blair Thornton is Professor of Marine Autonomy at the University of Southampton and holds a cross-appointment with the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo. Since September 2016, he has worked across both institutions, building a highly productive bridge between the United Kingdom and Japan in marine robotics and advancing the field deployment of autonomous systems in challenging ocean environments.
